Learning Theories in Education!

What is learning? In my opinion, learning is a lifelong process that evolves and changes. I think, learning is not permanent and we become enlightened with every new knowledge that which is learned. We synthesize every information that we learn in our mind and we create a product accordingly. Learning is an indispensable part of education as well as a part of life. Then, prepare your beverage and let's take a look at learning theories:)

LEARNING THEORIES:

Behaviourism: It says that knowledge is independent. According to my mindmap on the MindMeister which ı took notes in Instructional Technology lesson, learning is action, touch and sense. If there is a change in behaviour, we learn. We can change people's behaviour by behaving positively or negatively. Behaviourism is about reward and punishment. Behaviourism is about an individual. We can say that behaviourism is new behaviours and changes which are acquired through unions between stimuli and response.

Cognitivism: Cognitivism is based on the idea process behind the behaviour. Humans process the information they receive. Cognitive learning theorists believe that learning occurs internal progressing of information. It is administered by an internal process rather than an external circumstance. Learning is an evolution in knowledge which is stocked in memory, not just a behaviour. According to my notes which ı took Instructional Technology lesson, learning occurs brain. Learning comes from genes. There is one theory which is related to the cognitive science. It is called '' Schema Theory.'' Schema theory concerns with how the brain structures knowledge. It is focused on past experiences. These prior knowledge formed by experience help the person in a new learning process.

SCHEMA THEORY

Social Learning Theory: It claims that learning is based on imitation or social interactions. External events are effective in the occurrence behaviour. People observe in their environment, imitate and develop certain behaviours, which enables learning. It is stated to my MindMeister application that learning is social. Everything is about social classes. We learn because we live in a social environment.

Constructivism: Information is structured by the student. Each student constructs meaning individually or socially in the learning process. The main thing we learn is this signification. According to my notes in the MindMeister application, there are 2 two theories which is called ''Zone of Proximal Development'' and ''Scaffolding.'' Lev Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development is about what a learner can do without support and what a learner can success with guidance and help from a skilled student. Scaffolding claims that teachers support their students at levels that support them in reaching levels of understanding and skills that they can not reach without assistance.

Communication Theory: Communication theory says that all living beings communicate through sound, speech, body movements and gestures. I can't think of dealing with people without communication. Can you think of spending a day without communication? So, communication is a part of our daily life. People need to communicate. When kids for ready their superior, they are ready for learning.

Motivational Theory: Motivational theory focuses on what drives individuals to work towards a goal or outcome. Business is interested in this theory because motivated individuals are more productive. Motivation is important in education. When a learner feels motivated, he or she express their feelings, thoughts and emotions better. I think teachers should increase their students' motivations with different activities and their encouraging words.
