WHAT IS ''FLIPGRID''?

FLIPGRID:

Learning with videos is what appeals to primary school, secondary school, high school and university students in the 21st century. Watching and making videos are loved, practiced and broadcast on their channels by most young people. While there are young people who are so interested in video content production, educators can turn this into an advantage in their lessons. In the classroom, teachers should give students a voice make them talk, and enable them to express their opinions. Since it takes a lot of time for each student to express his/her opinion in the classroom, students can have the opportunity to express their ideas by taking videos on the Flipgrid. Thanks to Flipgrid, students post videos, share their ideas and discuss. Teachers can listen these videos and give feedback on the flipgrid. In additionally, students can view each other's videos. By watching videos, educators can provide instant feedback to students and evaluate them through videos. With flipgrid, students can assign assignments and projects and teachers can score students' work. You can ask the student to make a video of what they know about the topic before covering the topic. Flipgrid is not only used by students but also used by teachers. For example, teachers can use it in professional development work or to brainstorm a topic. In foreign language teaching, it improves students' speaking and presentation skills. For example, you can give students a topic about English grammar and ask them to make a presentation by taking a video on the flipgrid. In this way, students' speaking skills improves in terms of foreign language teaching. As a conclusion, it is a useful instructional technology tool that facilitates the work of educators, where students can do their projects and present their ideas by shooting videos.

HOW TO USE?:

You must download the application first. When you log into the application, you will see the options to ''Enter a Flipcoard and ''Educator Dashboard.'' You must choose ''Educator Dashboard'' option. You can use your microsoft acoount while logging in. You can create your first assignment by clicking on the ''Add New Grid.'' You can open more than one topic in the area that you have created. For example, ın the Tenses Grid, you can open two different topics as ''Future Tenses'' and ''Presenf Perfect Continuous Tense.'' You can collect the topics of each class which you teach in Grids. For example, in the 6A Grid, you can create two different topics which is called ''Gerund-Infinitives'' and '' Verbs which take gerund attachment -ing.'' When creating your question, you can add a question which is asked on the video, create a visual or written question and ask. Students enter the flipcodes of each class/grid and reach the questions that you have prepared on the flipgrid. Students will record their own answers after watching the video or reading the question, and will be able to add a cover photo to their video and submit their answers. As a conclusion, the whole class will be able to see and like each other's answers.
