WHAT IS QUIZLET?
Web tools and applications widely used in education. Which one of us don’t use
web tools in education field? I have been using Quizlet for 2 years to learn new
vocabularies. It is a perfect application those who have difficulty memorizing
words and want to learn new words. Below are some introductions about how

Quizlet is an online flashcard application. You can create a set yourself in the Quizlet or use your ready-made study sets. You can make learning more permanent with cards and games. It is an application that provides easy vocabulary learning blended with technology instead of traditional word memorization methods. Quizlet application is used to learn words. Teachers can use it in the classroom for educational purposes. It provides a great advantage for those who have difficulties in memorizing words in foreign language teaching, with the opportunities to practice through listen, write, learn tests and cards. HOW TO USE ''QUIZLET''?
Firstly, ı created a set of words Phrasal Verbs. Then, ı wrote English phrasal verbs on horizontal liines. There is an option to choose the language under the second horizontal line. You can choose the language that you want. It automatically gives the maning of the words. If you touch the picture icon, it offers you pictures suitable for words. Finding pictures for verbs can be difficult.
After creating the word set, we see a screen like this. You can repeat the words from the flashcard and listen to how they are pronounced. In the learn section, you can type words. You can practice listening in the Speller section and test the words you have learned. You can create and play games from the Play section. There are two games in this section. They are called ‘’ scatter and space race’’. You can play these games individually. You can share word cards by sending a link or you can add html code to your website and share it. If Google Classroom is available at your school, you can share it with your class and race students. You can measure students’ performances.
WHERE TO USE QUIZLET:
1) Quizlet application is used to learn words. Teachers can use it in the classroom for educational purposes. It is used individually and for language learners.
2) You can download and use the application on your phone. There is an IOS version for Iphone and Ipad. There may be some changes in android versions. This application has also a web interface.
3) You can use Quizlet on desktop. If you use it on desktop, you can use prepared work sets without logging in. You can download mobile version for free. If you use mobile version of the application, you must be logged in to see cards.
LIMITATIONS:
1) Vocabulary studies are focused on reading and writing. There is no study for pronunciation.
2) There is no offline support. You have to connect to the internet in the free version.
3) There is no figures and statistics for your work. You can’t see how many words you’ve studied and learned.
4) Quizlet dosen’t have a ready data. You can create a set yourself or you can use sets prepared by others.
TIPS/SUGGESTIONS:
1) You can customize the sets you work with acoording to your neeeds.
2) There is a distinction between target language and mother language. You can choose the language that you want.
3) You can do folder and classification. So, you can study the words that you need.
4) The free version of the application offers almost all support except photo support.
